The director aims to accelerate housing delivery through efcient and effective human settlement management and quality service delivery as well as through integrated and collective sustainable human settlements programmes. As well as to eradicate the remaining informal settlements and introduces a rental strategy as an alternative to address housing backlogs.
Our vision is to create well-planned, sustainable communities where every resident has access to adequate housing and quality living environments. Through strategic planning and innovative human settlement programs, we aim to build inclusive neighborhoods that promote social cohesion, economic opportunities, and environmental sustainability for current and future generations.
The Planning and Human Settlement Department is responsible for managing urban development, housing delivery, and spatial planning to create sustainable, well-integrated communities throughout the City of Matlosana.
Our mission is to facilitate orderly development, provide adequate housing solutions, and ensure effective land use management that supports economic growth while preserving environmental integrity and promoting social equity.
Our Town Planning Division manages land use applications, rezoning processes, and development approvals to ensure orderly urban development in accordance with planning legislation.
The Housing Development Division implements government housing programs and facilitates access to adequate housing for all income groups within the municipality.
Our Land Management Division oversees municipal land assets, coordinates land acquisition, and manages land disposal processes for development purposes.
The Building Control Division ensures compliance with building regulations, processes building plan applications, and conducts inspections to maintain construction standards.
Our Spatial Planning Division develops strategic frameworks for sustainable development and coordinates integrated development planning across all sectors.
The Human Settlement Planning Division focuses on creating integrated, sustainable communities with access to social amenities, economic opportunities, and quality living environments.
Government-funded housing for qualifying households earning below R3,500 per month, providing fully subsidized homes.
Affordable housing solutions for middle-income households who earn too much for RDP but struggle to access bank finance.
Rental housing for low to moderate-income households, providing quality accommodation in well-located areas.
In-situ upgrading of informal settlements to provide basic services and improved living conditions.
