Frequently Asked Questions

What is CSD and why do I need to register there?

The Central Supplier Database (CSD) is a national database maintained by National Treasury where all suppliers intending to do business with the government and municipalities must register. It is a regulatory requirement as per the MFMA (Municipal Finance Management Act) and its Regulations.

The City of Matlosana cannot process supplier registrations without a valid CSD registration number. CSD registration is free and can be completed online at secure.csd.gov.za.

How long does the registration process take?

The supplier registration process typically takes 7-14 working days from the date of submission of a complete application with all required documents. Applications with missing or incorrect information may take longer to process.

You will receive email confirmation once your registration has been processed and approved. You can also contact our Supply Chain Management unit to check the status of your application.

Do I need to renew my supplier registration?

Yes, supplier registrations need to be renewed annually. The City of Matlosana will send a notification when your registration is due for renewal. It is also your responsibility to update your information whenever there are changes to your business details or documentation.

Documents such as Tax Clearance Certificates and B-BBEE Certificates have expiry dates and must be kept current to maintain an active registration status.

What if I don't have some of the required documents?

All mandatory documents marked with an asterisk (*) must be provided to complete your registration. Registration applications with missing mandatory documents cannot be processed.

If you are in the process of obtaining certain documents, you can save your application as a draft and complete it when you have all the required documentation.

For specific queries about documentation requirements, please contact our Supply Chain Management unit for guidance.

How will I be notified of tender opportunities?

Once registered as a supplier, you will receive notifications of tender opportunities that match your business categories via email. All tenders are also advertised on the City of Matlosana website, in local newspapers, and on the municipal notice boards.

It is recommended to regularly check the tender section of our website for the latest opportunities. The City does not guarantee that suppliers will be automatically notified of all relevant opportunities.
