The Planning And Human Settlement Department is responsible for guiding the sustainable physical development and growth of the City of Matlosana. We establish frameworks for land use management, housing development, and environmental planning to ensure orderly development that benefits all residents.
Our mission is to create a well-planned, resilient, and sustainable city through effective land use management, spatial planning, and building control, while promoting sustainable human settlements and preserving our natural environment.
Our Land Use Management Division manages and regulates the use and development of land within the City of Matlosana to promote sustainable development patterns.
The Spatial Planning Division develops frameworks and plans that guide the physical development of the city to ensure coordinated, sustainable growth patterns.
Our Building Control Division ensures all buildings in the municipality comply with safety standards, building regulations, and approved plans.
The Housing Development Division facilitates access to adequate housing and ensures the development of sustainable human settlements throughout Matlosana.
Our Environmental Planning Division ensures that development is environmentally sustainable and promotes the conservation of natural resources.
The GIS and Mapping Division provides spatial data management and mapping services to support planning, decision-making, and service delivery in the municipality.

The Spatial Development Framework (SDF) is a strategic planning document that guides the physical development of the City of Matlosana over the next 20 years. It provides a spatial vision for the future development of the city and guides decision-making on land development applications.
The SDF aims to create an integrated, efficient, and sustainable city by addressing spatial inequalities, promoting compact development, and ensuring environmental sustainability.
